You might be surprised to hear that I can't really oppose such a move.
When I first started gambling online in 2001 I very quickly ran up a very big debt on my credit card within the first 2 months. With my personal circumstances at the time, that sort of debt would take me about a year to pay off (without sacrificing other "normal" expenditure).
In fact, I think it must have been about 2 or 3 years of "bonus advantage play" after that until all my credit cards were zeroed out. Since then I have never once borrowed money to gamble. But I do remember just how tempting it is and how easy it is to get on "the slippery slope", especially for people with lower will-power.
Even though I promote online casinos, I don't want to tempt people to play with money they can't afford or have to borrow. More problem gamblers = more bad press = more pressure to regulate or ban online gaming = hits our bottom line.
Dis-allowing credit cards (while still allowing Debit Cards) would be a step in the right direction IMHO.

I'm all for responsible gambling. But I am of the belief that as adults we should be able to decide what way and how we fund our casino account.
Perfect example. With my company and indeed myself personally, when buying products online. Whether it be with Amazon or to pay for the webhosting every month - I use a credit card. So if those details ever got into the wrong hands, my bank account wouldn't be cleared.
Gambling wise, I use my debit card. But I know there are many players, a large minority as it were, who like the option of using their credit card. As it does offer protection.
I see this move by the coalition as one where they are dressing it up to support responsible gambling, but really they want the tax revenue that is generated by online gambling and is leaving these shores.
Regards responsible gambling. I like you in the early days, lost a shed load at William Hill. I learnt my lesson the hard way. Hence this site, links to gamcare.com from the footer of every page.
Also as a supporter of responsible gambling, one of the first articles I published on this site when it went live was our responsible gambling article.

Looks like there is very real mileage in this.
