Default Rival - not so bad after all?

    Invaders from the Planet Moolah
Everyone knows I have always been a fan of Rival Gaming and tried to support them through thick or thin. Unfortunately the thin has been occurring too often over the last year or so, as some operators proved themselves to be too thick...

The antics of some operators had me pulling my hair out on several occasions, resulting in me having to "not recommend" a number of their casinos and even "rogue" a handful. But I still maintain that the majority are still safe to play at, and quite a few are top-notch casinos.

They seem to be some people's favourite "whipping boys" on several forums, so I was fairly pleased when Casinomeister released the 2010 "Pitch-A-Bitch" (player complaints) summary this week:
    RealTime Gaming 54 28%
    Microgaming 35 18%
    Rival Gaming 28 14%
    Chartwell 17 9%
    Playtech 17 9%
    Top Game 15 8%
    Proprietary 10 5%
    Net Entertainment 9 5%
    Boss Media 5 3%
    Cryptologic 4 2%

Apparently that makes them not as bad as RTG or Microgaming, and "only" 14% of the total complaints.
That is still far too high of course (0% would be ideal) and it is up from 6% in 2009, but in a year which was VERY bad for Rival - it could have been a lot worse!

    For ref, 2009:
    Microgaming 76 40%
    RealTime Gaming 37 19%
    Proprietary 19 10%
    Playtech 17 9%
    Rival Gaming 11 6%
    Entraction 8 4%
    Chartwell 7 4%
    Topgame 6 3%
    AliQuantum 5 3%
    Orbis 4 2%

I know you are a Rival fan KK, and I don't blame you. There are some good ones still out there, and I still have faith that some of the ones teetering on the edge will make changes for the better. I personally don't care for the games, but there are other things I find attractive about their software, like promotions and such.

Well there is still hope that their PAB percentage will be even lower at the end of 2011

How many what - Rival casinos?

They are all (bar 1) listed on this site: The Best - Rival Gaming Powered Casinos
    21 Good ones.
12 Hard to say; could be iffy or might be OK.
    3 Re-branded closed ones.
    5 Rogues.
    4 Closed down (I think)
    1 Greek only.

So by my reckoning there are about 42 operating Rival casinos on the net today.
I also happen to know another brand new one will be opening very soon - maybe in March...?

Bet821 is the Greek one yes? I am not sure, but I think I signed up to that one a while back, and it can be translated. If that is a good or bad thing I don't know.

You sure do know your stuff when it comes to Rival casinos KK, maybe you would know more about it than I do.

Here's a Rival update for you KK. Thought I'd really hit on something when it looked like downloading Rivals were giving my machine Trojans but someone explained the 'false positive' thing anti-virus apps do and now I'm happily playing at a few of them again. Isn't that great KK? cheers.

Might be a hard call here - but shortly if over half of the known Rival casinos are seen as dishonest / non-paying etc, wouldn't that inspire you to drop the other half as a sign of solidarity or perhaps advanced player protection?

I won't promote casinos running on this software. I want to ensure that ANY player who joins via an affiliate link etc is going to get paid when they win. It's my personal opinion and position.

Talking about Rival, looks like their white labels are heading for anoter rocky ride and a storm on the horizon, as for now at least they have pulled out of the US. On the back of the news regarding Poker Stars, Full Tilt, Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker.

Update On U.s. Federal Action Against Online Poker Sites

Interested to here what players at these sites and also webmasters who promote these white lablels make of this.

For the record here is our own view concerning Rival as a whole:

I steer way clear of rival... and I'm not a big fan of RTG. Don't know why, they just give me the heebies!

Besides, my sites are heavily weighted towards the UK.
