Gambling group to up its digital technology to keep abreast of the trend
On the back of a 20 percent rise in FY operating profit, UK gambling group Ladbrokes plc has said it intends enhancing its own technology through investment & flexible partnerships in order to boost its online competitiveness & web presence.
The land & online gambling firm will implement a new eCommerce platform that "has all the features you would expect from a leading e-enabled business". The platform will include improved site search capability, a single customer wallet for all products & its own front end platform that will allow it to integrate sportsbook & gaming product offerings available in the market.
The project is estimated at GBP 50 million, invested over 2011 & 2012 & is expected to take 18 months to complete.
The company has acknowledged that it is in preliminary talks with online gaming group 888 Holdings Plc but media speculation also has the company in unconfirmed discussions with gaming software developer Playtech Ltd.
