2006 WSOP winner gets his own poker room
Jamie Gold, who won the 2006 World Series of Poker main event for a record $12 million after besting a field of 8,772, has joined the illustrious ranks of poker aces who have land poker rooms named after them.
On Friday the Las Vegas gambling company Tropicana announced that it has named its newly renovated poker room âEURњThe Jamie Gold Poker RoomâEURќ in a salute to Gold, who will become the hotel resort's ambassador & appear in the poker room on a monthly basis once it has been launched early next year.
âEURњThis deal with Tropicana covers everything I could have ever wanted in a relationship with a major Las Vegas Strip resort & it will serve as my anchor & the conduit to all of my future poker & philanthropic endeavors,âEURќ said Gold.
According to Wikipedia, Jamie M. Gold was born August 25, 1969 as Jamie M. Usher, building a career as an American television producer, talent agent, & poker player, based in Malibu, California. He currently divides his time between his activities as president of production for the entertainment company, Buzznation & poker competitions, primarily major tournaments.
Gold changed his name by court order following his mother's divorce & remarriage to Dr. Robert Gold. The family moved to Paramus, New Jersey where Gold was educated at Paramus High Schooland & later earned a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Albany, going on to study entertainment law at UCLA.
In the epic 2006 final table, Gold eliminated 7 of his 8 opponents, finally defeating Paul Wasicka heads-up.
