Unibet will now rebrand the platform from Eurosportbet.fr to Unibet.fr
Just on a month ago the online gambling group Unibet announced the conditional acquisition of the French Solfive group (see previous report) for Euro 5.625 million plus net cash adjustment of Euro 1.5 million, the condition being regulator ARJEL's approval of the deal. Unibet also provided funds to Solfive to enable the company to settle a fixed debt of Euro 2.375 million
According to press material from Unibet this week, the ARJEL approval was forthcoming on December 8, & the company has now finalised the Solfive acquisition, paving the way for its re-entry into the French market.
Unibet left the market earlier this year after being among the first to secure ARJEL licensing, citing the difficult tax regime, but appears to have had a rethink on the possibilities, given that little has changed in France, although moves are afoot to reconsider the government's requirements of operators.
For now, Unibet will rebrand the platform from Eurosportbet.fr to Unibet.fr by January 1st 2012 following a short transition, & is empowered by ARJEL to offer regulated horse betting, sports betting & poker under the Unibet.fr domain.
