Euro 100 000 main prize goes to the man from Omagh

698 hopefuls signed up for the United Kingdom & Ireland Poker Tour in Galway this week, the first outing of the 2012 season, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

After 4 action-packed days the final table emerged, comprising Emmett Mullin, Ronan Gilligan, Joe Roberts, Craig Burke, Aleksandras Rusinovas, John Willoughby, Nick Abou Risk, Richard Haile & Joris Ruijs.

It took only 5 hours for the winner, Emmett Mullin from Omagh, to claim his Euro 100,000 main prize after a bruising heads up against fellow Irishman Ronan Gilligan, although the duo started the heads up evenly matched in chips.

Gilligan went home as the runner up with Euro 73,650 in prize money, rayther more profitably repeating his 2010 experience, when he exited the UKIPT Dublin derby in second place for Euro 43,400.

Canadian pro Nick Abou Risk was the hard luck story of the day, exiting his third UKIPT final table without a win, although his seventh placing earned him Euro 14,700.
