Hiddink bookies favourite for Chelsea Mangerial Hotseat
As we reported yesterday early evening, Chelsea dispensed with Carlo Ancelotti's services as manager & the bookies have quickly installed former caretaker manager Hiddink as 2/1 favourite.
A shortening occured of Hiddink's odds from 4/1 last night, in the immediate aftermath of the axe falling on Carlo Ancelotti.
The fate that befell Ancelotti was similar to that Avram Grant experienced when he Chelsea finished the 2008 season trophyless.
Guus Hiddink who took over the manager position in a caretaker role when Scolari was sacked by Abramovich in Feb 2009, & went on to lead Chelsea to FA Cup success at Wembley, is clearly Abramovich's number one target.
The club are remaining tight lipped over the position of manager & are unwilling to comment any further on Ancelotti, other than the terse statement that they released on their website last night.
If Abramovich is unable to get his number one choice in Hiddink, others in the frame according to bookmakers Ladbrokes.com include:
· Marco Van Basten 3/1
· Andre Villas Boa 5/1
· Jose Mourinho 10/1
· Harry Redknapp 10/1
· Frank Rijkaard 14/1
For those interested in a long shot, how about Gus Poyet at 50/1
