Charlie Adam turns down Blackpool's latest contract extension
Kenny Dalglish is next week likely to officially approach Blackpool with regards their star player Charlie Adam, with the news that Adam is refusing to sign a year extension to his current contract with the seasiders.
Liverpool were linked to Adam in January, but their 4 million offer was dismissed out of hand by Blackpool, as they saw him as essential to their survival in the Premiership.
Blackpool were relegated from the Premiership on the last day of the season on Sunday, despite Adam scoring in their 4 - 2 loss. As a result of their relegation, Ian Holloway faces the very real prospect of his Blackpool team being broken up.
As we reported on the 23rd May, Liverpool & also Manchester United are poised to enter a bidding war for the highly rated Scottish International.
Liverpool though believe they are in the driving seat & hope to tie up a deal with Blackpool for Adam early next week. With the player reported to favour Liverpool.
Blackpool themselves are now resigned to losing their star player, but will be holding out for at least 10 million pounds for the player.
Alongside Adam, as we reported yesterday, Liverpool are also leading the chase for Newcastle United left back Jose Enrique, as Dalglish attempts to rebuild Liverpool over the summer.
Liverpool's new owners have made available to Dalglish sufficient funds for the upcoming transfer window, so they are once again able to challenge for a Champions League place next season.
