Moyes in for Barton as Newcastle United stall over new contract

Everton Manager David Moyes see Newcastle Midfielder Joey Barton as a prime target to firm up the Everton midfield.

Everton have been monitoring & keeping tabs on Joey Barton's current contract situation at Newcastle, with owner Mike Ashley not prepared to offer the player a four year contract, which Barton is rumoured to want.

According to FootyLatest.com, Everton will not be providing Moyes with a large transfer fund over the summer & the manager will have to sell players to enable him to buy in the transfer market.

However Moyes feels confident he could now land Barton for a small fee of no more than 4 million, which Everton would be able to afford without having to offload any of their players.

Meanwhile the Sunday People newspaper is also reporting that Newcastle are prepared to cash in now on Barton who has 12 months left on his contract, rather than let him go for free next summer.
