Berbatov vows to fight for his place
As we reported yesterday, Manchester United have secured the services of Michael Owen for a further year & as a result there are growing rumours, that the move has pushed Bulgarian striker Berbatov closer to the exit door.
The Irish Independent this morning however is reporting that Berbatov is prepared to stay at Manchester United & fight for his place. This in spite of the fact that United's leading scorer could not even warrant a place on the bench for Manchester United at Wembley last Saturday, in their defeat against Barcelona.
The form of Wayne Rooney & the emergence of Hernandez is such that breaking into the first team will appear to be even harder for Berbatov next season, who has a year left to run on his current contract.
Manchester United do however have an option to extend Berbatov's contract, however whether they will take this up remains to be seen.
United's owners the Glazer's as we reported last week, have authorised a massive summer spending spree in the transfer market & it is possible that Alex Ferguson, sees Berbatov's future away from Old Trafford. Despite the fact that Berbatov is reported to want to stay & fight for a place in the first team, fully believing he has something to offer the club still.
The Independent is also reporting that Ji Sung Park is also set to be offered a new deal.
